Finding Hope in Life's Storms: Trusting the Way-Maker

It's been six months since the doctor delivered the devastating news that Gail had stage four ovarian cancer and only four months to prepare for the worst. But here we are, six months later, with new CT scans that show no signs of any cancer. This miraculous journey has taught us valuable lessons – all teaching us that the key is trust. In Isaiah 43, God reveals Himself as the ultimate "way-maker," guiding us through life's most challenging circumstances. Let me share with you the hope and assurance we found in this incredible chapter of our life.

God's Faithfulness in the Midst of Trials

Like an airline pilot preparing the passengers for turbulence, God reassures us through the Bible that turbulence in the form of trials and heartaches will create a bumpy flight. But… He is the way-making God who promises to make a way for us through every storm. In Isaiah 43, God reminds His people that He created and formed them, and despite their past failures He promises to be with them, guiding their every step. This unwavering love and faithfulness demonstrate that no matter how dire our circumstances may seem, God is there, ready to make a way.

Hope in Sickness and Healing

Gail and I learned when sickness threatens to overwhelm us, God offers healing and restoration. He is the ultimate physician, capable of turning the impossible into the miraculous. God assures His people that He will provide the path of deliverance. He is our healer, and His power knows no bounds. When faced with a daunting diagnosis, we can trust that God is with us, working in ways we cannot comprehend and likely in this life will never understand.

Comfort in the Face of Death

In the face of death, God offers comfort and the hope of eternal life. He understands our grief and walks with us through the darkest valleys. Isaiah 43 reminds us that God is not only the creator of life but also the giver of life that has no end. He promises to be with us, even in the most challenging moments, bringing peace and solace to our weary souls. Death may seem like the end, but with God, it is merely a passage. Actually it is the birth canal into eternity.

Finding Companionship in Loneliness

Loneliness can be a crushing weight, but God declared His presence to Gail and me in those intense, lonely moments. He promised to fill the void with His love and companionship, and He did. In Isaiah 43, God assures His people that even in their isolation, He is there. He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother, offering comfort, understanding, and a love that never falters. When we feel alone, we can find solace in knowing that God is by our side, ready to embrace us with His unwavering presence.

Let me restate

I personally found that life's storms are fierce and overwhelming, but I found hope and extreme comfort in the way-maker God. Isaiah 43 reminded me that He is the one who makes a way where there seems to be no way. He leads me through sickness, comforts me in the face of death, and fills my loneliness with His love. This beautiful narrative showcases God's unwavering faithfulness and His ability to bring light and hope into the darkest moments of anyone’s life. So, hold on! Have faith! Trust in the way-maker!

Together, you will navigate life's storms and emerge stronger than ever.

Peace be with you dear friends!

Godspeed and Amen.
